Obrist, Company Known for Tesla Range Extender Conversions, Declares Bankruptcy
The Austrian engineering firm Obrist, which gained notoriety for its "HyperHybrid" concept that added a gasoline range extender to Tesla vehicles, has filed for bankruptcy. The company, which spent over a decade promoting its hybrid technology as a superior alternative to pure battery-electric cars, reportedly owes approximately $37 million across three insolvent entities. Despite its persistent efforts, Obrist never successfully brought its range-extended EV solution to market in a production vehicle.
