EV Digest collects only the data you choose to provide. The newsletter is 100% opt-in with email confirmation, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the one-click link in every email.

What we collect

  • Newsletter subscribers: email address, signup source, IP address (for abuse prevention), confirmation timestamp.
  • Submission forms (sponsored articles, club listings, ad inquiries): the information you type into the form, plus IP address for abuse prevention.
  • Server logs: standard request metadata (URL, user agent, IP) for security and uptime.
  • Anonymous analytics: aggregate page views; no third-party advertising trackers.

What we don't collect

We don't buy contact data, we don't use motor-vehicle records (DPPA) for marketing, and we don't sell your information to third parties.

How we use it

  • To send the newsletter you requested and respond to submissions.
  • To screen submissions for offensive content (automated moderation passes flag borderline content for human review).
  • To report aggregate engagement to advertisers (never personal identifiers).
  • To improve our coverage and operate the site.

Processors

We rely on a small number of vendors to operate the site: our hosting and database provider (Supabase, via Lovable Cloud), our outbound email provider (Mailgun, via Lovable Emails), and an AI provider (Google) for the moderation step. Each receives only the data needed for the task and is bound by its own privacy terms.

Retention

  • Subscribers: kept while your subscription is active. Unsubscribed addresses are suppressed (not deleted) so we don't re-mail you.
  • Submissions: kept indefinitely as an editorial record; you can request deletion.
  • Server logs: 30 days.

Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA)

You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your information at any time via our contact form (topic: Privacy). California residents can opt out of any "sale" or "share" of personal information — EV Digest does not sell or share personal information.

Cookies & analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how readers use the site (pages viewed, session duration, country, referring source). GA4 sets first-party cookies and is loaded only after you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google. IP addresses are anonymized; data retention is set to 14 months. Google's privacy terms apply: policies.google.com/privacy.

Independent of GA, we log anonymized ad impressions and clicks server-side so we can fairly bill advertisers. This data contains no cookies and no personal identifiers — only a daily-rotating one-way hash of IP+user-agent (used to count unique sessions), the ad slot, page path, country, and a coarse device family. It is processed under legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and is necessary for the ad-supported business model disclosed here.

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer.

Advertiser reporting

Advertisers receive monthly performance reports showing aggregate impressions, clicks, and click-through rates for their placements, plus site-wide context (total sessions, top pages). Reports never include personal identifiers, IP addresses, or individual reader data.

Children

The site isn't directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.
