Hyundai Motor Group has partnered with Korea Zinc to secure a stable supply chain for electric vehicle (EV) battery raw materials, specifically nickel. This collaboration will involve joint sourcing, processing, and exploration of new businesses including battery recycling. The partnership aims to fulfill 50% of Hyundai's nickel requirements for IRA-compliant EV batteries by 2031, with supply commencing in 2026. Hyundai Motor Group's HMG Global will acquire a 5% stake in Korea Zinc to solidify this strategic alliance.
