Zoox Gains NHTSA Approval to Charge for Driverless Robotaxi Rides

Amazon's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, Zoox, has received a crucial exemption from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), allowing it to commercialize its unique, steering-wheel-free robotaxis. This approval permits Zoox to deploy up to 2,500 vehicles annually for the next two years, moving closer to offering paid driverless ride-hailing services in the U.S.
