Rivian Acquires Startup Third Dimension to Build 3D Simulations for Autonomous Driving

Rivian has acquired Third Dimension, a 15-person UK startup specializing in neural simulation technology, to bolster its internal driver-assistance development. The electric automaker plans to convert hundreds of thousands of daily fleet video clips into interactive 3D virtual environments to train and test its self-driving algorithms. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
