Reconfigurable EV Battery Packs Promise Extended Lifespans and Lower Costs

EUChalmers University

Researchers from Sweden's Chalmers University, in collaboration with PHINIA and Scania, have modeled a novel approach to electric vehicle battery design. Their study explores reconfigurable battery packs that can bypass individual weak or failing cells, potentially extending overall battery life and reducing long-term ownership costs for EVs. This innovative concept aims to mitigate the impact of uneven cell aging within a pack.
