GM Takes on Tesla Sentry Mode With Cloud-Based OnStar Connected Cameras

General Motors is preparing a direct competitor to Tesla's popular Sentry Mode through a new service dubbed OnStar Connected Cameras. The system automatically uploads incident footage to the cloud rather than relying strictly on local USB storage. However, unlike Tesla's built-in feature, GM will require an active subscription and delays the full companion app rollout until 2027.
