GM Exits Indiana Battery JV, Samsung SDI Takes Full Ownership of Planned Gigafactory

General Motors has sold its stake in the planned $3.5 billion battery cell manufacturing joint venture with Samsung SDI in New Carlisle, Indiana. This move leaves Samsung SDI as the sole owner and operator of the future gigafactory, which is still expected to bring significant battery production capacity to the Midwest.
