Volkswagen and Škoda Roll Out Battery Preconditioning Update to Older MEB EVs

Volkswagen and Škoda are releasing an over-the-air software update that introduces battery preconditioning to early MEB-platform vehicles, including the ID.4, ID.5, and Enyaq. The feature enables drivers to warm the battery pack ahead of fast-charging sessions, substantially improving cold-weather DC fast-charging speeds. Early EV owners running older software versions will finally receive the functionality that has been standard on newer model years.
