UK Scraps Planning Permission Rule for Cross-Pavement EV Charging Channels

UKUK Government

The British government has eliminated the requirement for planning permission to install cross-pavement EV charging channels, removing a layer of bureaucracy for street-parking drivers. The decision allows car owners to cut narrow gullies into sidewalks to safely run cables from home wallboxes to kerbside vehicles without creating trip hazards. Officials estimate the rule change could save motorists around £300, lowering the barrier to electric vehicle adoption for the millions of UK homes that lack driveways.
