Toray's new resin film for anode current collectors could lighten EV batteries

Japanese chemical company Toray Industries has engineered a novel resin film designed to replace the copper foil currently used as anode current collectors in lithium-ion batteries. This innovation promises to reduce battery weight significantly while meeting crucial criteria for oxidation and reduction resistance, adhesion, mechanical strength, and thermal stability. Adoption of this film could lead to lighter, more efficient EV battery packs.
