Tesla Secures Foreign-Trade Zone Designation for Texas Megapack Facility

Tesla has received federal approval to operate its Brookshire, Texas, Megapack plant as a foreign-trade zone for a 14-month period. The designation allows the automaker to defer standard customs duties on imported parts used in assembly. However, imported Chinese lithium iron phosphate cells will still be subject to applicable Section 301 tariffs under the agreement.
