Porsche has reaffirmed its commitment to an exclusively electric future for the next-generation 718 Boxster and Cayman, with a high-speed ride in a development model previewing the upcoming 2028 launch. The automaker has scrapped previous plans to offer combustion engine variants, despite earlier considerations for a mixed powertrain strategy. These new models will utilize a bespoke 'PPE Sport' electric architecture, featuring a unique battery layout designed to emulate the weight distribution of their gas-powered predecessors.
