Mercedes Explores Micro-Converter Tech for Cell-Level EV Battery Management

Mercedes-Benz is investigating a novel battery architecture that integrates micro-converters to manage individual cells independently during charging and discharging. Rather than treating the entire traction pack as a single uniform unit, this granular control could isolate degraded cells, optimize efficiency, and improve overall longevity. If brought to production, the concept could significantly cut pack degradation and improve real-world driving range.
