Federal Court Mandates EPA to Enforce New National Soot Standard

A U.S. District Court has ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to implement the 2024 National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for fine particulate matter, commonly referred to as soot. This ruling compels the agency to enforce stricter health-based standards for air pollution, which is expected to indirectly benefit the adoption of zero-emission vehicles by addressing air quality concerns.
