Audi's New RS5 Plug-in Hybrid Wagon Fails EV Digest Scrutiny

EUAudi

The latest Audi RS5, described as a 2.4-tonne plug-in hybrid, has been highlighted in an Autocar review. Despite its "hybrid" designation, the vehicle's powertrain architecture functions as a conventional hybrid (HEV) with a focus on performance, rather than an EV with a plug-in or extended-range electric drivetrain. As such, it does not meet EV Digest's criteria for classification as an electric vehicle.
